Seiko Moonphase 6347-601a

I have always wanted to find a Nice Vintage Seiko Moonphase 6347-601A Automatic 23 jewels Watch. It took me almost 11 months to find one at reasonable price. Good item to celebrate the Mid Autumn moon cake festival.

This is an interesting watch from 1985 (20 years ago). Even though it's a Seiko, not many units can be found in South East Asia or Greater China. My guess is that for some reasons, the watch was made for the Indian or Middle East markets. Moreover, most Seiko 5 is just a simple 3 hands automatic watch with a date. Thus, this automatic date with Moonphase function is really unique.

The watch has a STAINLESS STEEL CASE MEASURING APPROXIMATELY 32MMX40MM, WITHOUT CROWN AND FROM LUG TO LUG, thickness of 10.5mm.

The watch is not very big by today's standard and my guess is that it was considered "big" during the 1980s. After wearing the watch for a while, I must say that it's quite a comfortable watch to wear. With a large Moonphase at the top of the dial, the design is really nice as many watches now are following this design trend.

After wearing the watch for two days, I must say that the size is a comfort to wear. Initially, I find the design abut strange but the watch starts to grow and I began to appreciate the hexagonal shape and the designs from the 1980s. If all watches design are round or square, life will be boring. I have managed to find another in excellemt condition for keeping. Looking through the Seiko vintage watch book, it seems that this is the only automatic Moonphase watch by Seiko...
