Duward diver

I have been buying watches in an alarming speed and there is a need for me to streamline my collection and this Duward diver watch has to go..

Rado Diastar Lapis 1970s

My quest for vintage mineral dial watch continue. This is the prettiest Rado with the Lapis dial made in the 1970s. I am eagerly waiting for it to arrive from Germany. Thanks Marcus!

King Seiko 4502-7001 20th anniversary

This is a King Seiko specially made to celebrate a Japanese co 20th anniversary. Condition is very nice with perfect dial and nice marking on the back. Have to let this one go as I need to bring down the number of watches,,

Rolex 6605 Datejust from 1959

After World-war 2 Rolex created the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch that featured a date indication. For the first 10 years of production the date, shown at the 3 o’clock position, was not yet enhanced by the well-known ‘Cyclop lens’. This lens was introduced in 1955 and magnified the date by 2.5 times.

This is a Rolex 6605 from the second quarter 1959 with the Cyclop len in white gold bezel and steel. I did not have the intention to buy at first when I visited my regular shop but my regular vintage watch shop owner Manoop insisted that I get this as it's the early version of the Datejust. I didn't recognize it at first until I saw the daphane hands with the pie pan dial. The movement is in good condition and the overall case is nice. The white gold bezel has smaller groves compared to the later Ref 1601. Given the escalating prices of the sports model, the Datejust seems like a good investment as prices continues to climb for these as well.

I am starting to build up my vintage Datejust collection consisting of Pink gold bezel & steel 1601, and yellow gold bezel and steel 1601. This white gold bezel and steel 6601 will fit in nicely with the collection theme.

Special Eaton Bubbleback from 1946

I have been collecting vintage Rolex bubbleback for more then 25 years and this is a special Rolex made for Eaton department store. What is unusal for the Eaton watch is that it is in the Rolex bubbleback format. Moreover, it comes with the framed certificate to Mr. Timothy C. Eaton heir grandson of the Eaton family who was named after the founder Timothy Eaton.

The watch dates to 1946. I have two Eaton watches in gold format from the 1950s hand wind & another from the 1960s automatic. This  watch from 1946 will fit in nicely in the collection. I am hoping to find a 1930s Eaton Prince to complete this small theme. Hope I can find one soon!

Having broken my own rules for one newly acquired watch in and one old one out, I will need to let go some watches in order to balance the quantities. Luckily, I have managed to let go one KS and I am in the process of letting go a GS too...

Eagerly waiting for this lovely bubbleback to arrive!

Vintage Omega Deville Dynamic 無字天書 1970s

Just found an amazing NOS Omega Deville Dynamic. The dial on this model is very rare in OLIVE gold and is in immaculate condition. The overall design is clutter free with no hour graduations and only furnished with day/date window and sporting gold hour and min hands and a white second hand. The day/date are quick set . The watch is totally original and includes a signed crown , dial , movement. Dial is like a 無字天書. Back case has engraving 700L.107. Many of these watch glass have been replaced but this is all original with the Omega logo and the reatangular date window.

The watch was first created for the Prix de Ville de Geneve in 1965 the line was launched to the public in 1968, the Dynamic line lived up to its name.  The elliptical case shape was conceived to work with the anatomy of the wrist. The crown was integrated into the case so that it would not disturb the fairly aerodynamic flow of the line of the watch. The design of the dial was consistent with the clean functional aspects of the watch. It has an exceptionally clean, streamlined, and beautiful design that will never go out of style and still looks modern to this day. It was introduced as "the first watch designed especially for the human wrist" touting its "scientific" ergonomic design. The Dynamic perfectly encapsulated the spirit of its age which brought together the emphasis on science as we prepared to and on the moon with the human-centric focus of the socially progressive movement of the late 60s.

There are many Omega Dynamic but this special dial has a minimalist approach which has attracted my attention. This watch blend in well with my 1970s Rado stone dial watches.

無字天書

Rado Balboa deluxe

This is a deluxe version of Rado Balboa with special mineral dial. I'm really into vintage Rado lately with many cheap and good watches. This beautiful piece may have been made for the Far East market which require eloborate dial design.

Vintage watch collection need not be expensive hoby as there are still many nice watches to be found. when comparing with the newly manufactured automatic watches, these watches prices are real value for money.

Rolex 1601 反白字無字天書 yellow gold bezel wide boy

In Hong Kong, some collector called this dial 反白字無字天書,. From a certain angles, the whole lettering disappeared. I was lucky to be able to find the NOS dial and hands set that fit my 1973 period correct Datejust. Besides being a 反白字無字天書, it has also the so called Wide Boy fat and short markers and wider hands. The dial is also a sigma dial which denotes that the markers are made of gold. The fun in collecting vintage watches also lies in the upgrading process.

Rado Diastar 14 Tiger eye

I have been active in my search for the Rado mineral dials watch recently. I am lucky to have join the Rado forum at Equation of Time and there are many Rado collectors offering their help. Just found a Rado Diastar 14 with Tiger Eye dial from UK from a senior collector who has a wonderful collection of  Rado.

Besides the Tiger eye dial, the case deign is also timeless and quite avant garde and ultra modern and unconventional for its time. One can look at the straight lines and slopes on the side.

After collecting a few of these Rado, as resources are limited and the ranges of nice Rado watches are huge, I think I better stay focus on the mineral dials...

Rolex 16800 back from service

I have sent my Rolex 16800 to Rolex center for verification and complete overhaul. After several weeks of waiting, the watch is finally ready for collection. Even though it is costly to send it to Rolex center for service, at least one could get a genuine parts The watch has been waterproof and I could use the watch for swimming until the next service 5 years later.

To help ensure the authenticity, the Tiffany & Co were written on the service paper and receipts.
